My Trip to Gatlinburg, Tennesee

I thought I would share some photos from my trip to Gatlinburg, TN a few weekends ago! It was Pat, his sister, his brother-in-law and I. It was a nice weekend away, only about four hours from Charlotte!

We stayed in Pigeon Forge, it is only matter of minutes to get to the downtown area of Gatlinburg, and since I didn’t know a thing about either of these towns, I was surprised to see how touristy Pigeon Forge is. I mean, we are talking every chain restaurant imaginable, and store after store selling the exact same clothing, beach towels, and stuff. Oh, and Pigeon Forge looked like everyone’s favorite amusement park met Vegas for kids. Neon lights, ferris wheels, go cart tracks, shows, you name it and it had it. It’s probably so magical and fun for families with young children to go to. I was glad Gatlinburg had a bit different of a scene; It had cooler restaurants, boutique shops, several distilleries, a lot of bars, more things for us to do! One of the highlights was riding the ski lift up the mountain and looking at the view of the town! I felt like a child, the smallest thing was so exciting and fun!

It was really cold on Sunday & Monday, but we were able to drive through the Smokey Mountains and then get out to explore a little bit. A fun fact we learned was that there are more people who visit the Smokey Mountains each year than there are people who visit the Grand Canyon. This blew my mind! Remember I just went to the Grand Canyon and explored Arizona this past October? See my Grand Canyon post here

Have you had a nice little weekend getaway recently? Leave me a comment below, I would love to know!
