Meet The Stylist Experience at David’s Bridal

I am excited to share something totally different with you! A couple weeks ago, before Christmas, I had the opportunity to make an appointment at my closest David’s Bridal and meet on of their stylists. My stylist’s name was Charlotte (you all know I love the city of Charlotte, so I instantly loved her!) and she was really able to alleviate some stress very quickly for me. Up until this point, I had never tried on any wedding dresses. Honestly, I have no idea what it is I want in a dress nor a wedding. I have a million pins on my Pinterest board (follow me here)  however, I have never actually thought about the special day in detail! Some of my best friends don’t believe me! They say “of all people how is it that you don’t know what kind of dress, what kind of venue, etc.?”. I am a detail oriented person, but I have no idea why, I just haven’t thought about it. I have known for so long that I wanted to marry Pat and I can see our lives together just haven’t thought of the wedding! Anyway, Charlotte immediately was able to swoop in and lead me down the right direction. She started with simple questions, such as “How do you want to feel on your wedding day?”, “Do you like florals? Lace?”, “Do you have preference in fabrications?” “Silhouettes?”. Now considering I haven’t thought about it at length, she suggested we try on a few different styles to narrow it down from there.

The ball gown in the second and third photo was so fun! I felt like a princess in it. Charlotte had asked if I would try it and I am so glad I did! Every girl wants to feel like Cinderella for a few minutes right? I really like the coresetted waist line with the dramatic layers of tulle ruffles to create a big full skirt. Although it was something fun to be in, I liked the more simple silhouettes from the other dresses more and would most likely go that route instead.

Charlotte had asked me what color dress I was thinking. I immediately said white and I was surprised to learn from her that most brides end up with ivory versus pure white. This decision really comes down to how it complements your skin tone and hair color. I told her I would need to have a  tan first to decide the final coloration! It was hard trying on these dresses not being tan, my poor arms haven’t seen the sunlight in a few months! Hahah!

Charlotte got me into one dress, a mermaid style that tied up the entire back of me, and I had said I liked it but something didn’t feel complete. Enter in Charlotte’s years of experience and she rescued this moment with suggesting a belt to spruce it up a bit! David’s Bridal has an entire accessories section of belts, shoes, veil, hair pieces, clips, brooches, etc.  You can get an idea of their offering online here too!

The store I visited was really spacious. I was able to walk alongside Charlotte to say “nay” or “yay” to dresses that she flashed me when she was first getting an idea of my taste. Pat and I were also so impressed with the rows of bridesmaid dresses and mother of the bride dresses. Their offering in all of their dress categories are pretty extensive, plus I was amazed at the different price points that were available. I really believe that a girl on any budget would be able to find a dress they love and not have to forfeit something elsewhere! It’s super easy to make an appointment, at the top of David’s Bridal website, there is a header that says “Make an Appointment” and you are able to choose what you are wanting to come in for: Bridal, Alterations, Prom & Homecoming, Special Occasion or Bridal Party.

Overall, this “Meet the Stylist” experience with David’s Bridal was great. It really opened my eyes to understanding what different silhouettes of dresses feels like on, what types of fabrications there are, what different categories of merchandise you are able to shop as you find your dress etc. I was so pleased with the knowledge my stylist had and how nice the other staff members were. Through out the entire time we were in the store, I felt like they were really listening to what it was that I was wanting. Charlotte really understood what I was saying and was really able to find some dresses that spoke to what I wanted to try!

I’ll keep you updated as I begin my planning for all things wedding!

Xx, Brittany Ann
